Onion Sets and Shallot Bulbs now available too …
A much favoured variety with flat-shaped, yellow skinned bulbs. Onion Stuttgarter Giant produces excellent yields and keeping properties.
ONION RED BARON
Probably the best of the red-skinned varieties. It has superb flavour and appearance both raw in salads and cooked. Shiny, dark crimson bulbs store exceptionally well right through to April.
ONION STURON One of the all-time great onions on account of its reliability and consistency. With large, straw-coloured bulbs that show good bolting resistance and have a fine flavour and store well.
ONION CENTURION A development of ‘Sturon’, it produces lovely straw-yellow, semi-round bulbs. One of the earliest onions to reach maturity. Good crisp flesh, heavy crops and an excellent winter storer. A good show variety.
SHALLOT RED SUN
Attractive red tinged skin, ‘Red Sun’ is arguably the best of the red shallots. Producing good yields of crisp, white fleshed bulbs of excellent flavour for cooking, salads or for pickling.
SHALLOT GOLDEN GOURMET
A greatly improved ‘Dutch Yellow’ with better yields of high quality, golden rounded bulbs. Shallot Golden Gourmet stores well and has good resistance to bolting, may be planted out from January.
If we tell you its common name is the French Banana Shallot you might guess at least its shape if not its colour! It has a lovely mild flavour with pink flesh, sweet flavour, easy to peel and slice for eating raw in salads and garnishes. It has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
